Greatest Love Songs is Daniel McLeod's first play. It premiered at the Baron's Court Theatre in London in March 2007. A play about the problems people have communicating with each other, it featured a heavy metal soundtrack and, through the eyes of an orthodox Jewish girl, dared to ask certain "taboo" questions about the nature of religion in today's secular Western society.
The play was born of difficult circumstances. Daniel was attacked and badly assaulted in January 2006 and in his frustration at the lack of police support forthcoming, decided to turn a profoundly negative experience into one that was profoundly positive. The play touched many people, not least the cast and crew, and lead to many new friendships and an overwhelmingly positive response from those who saw it.
Directed by Hilary Wood, the cast included Suzanne Ahmet, Sam Bern, Toby Gillingham, Amanda Holt, Daniel McLeod and Martin Murphy. It also featured original music by talented singer/songwriter Rietta Austin.
